(1) Along much of its exposed length, the unconformable contact was intensely sheared during subsequent ductile deformation.(2) In this transect, the contact between the Carboniferous strata and the volcanic sequence appears to be an unconformable sedimentary contact.(3) This angular relationship has been interpreted as evidence for an unconformable contact.(4) However, of greatest interest is the unconformable contact between the Wiens Formation and Neptune Group.(5) At this locality, the upper layers of the Mishan Formation are truncated below the unconformable contact at the base of the overlying Agha Jari Formation.(6) The anticline is uncomformably overlain by thick Plio-Pleistocene prograding slope sediments.(7) Seacliff exposures at Worlds End show a series of four conglomerates and two interbedded ‘Brighton’ flows, all uncomformably overlying the Dedham Granite.(8) This unit is a light brown to yellowish-red sand that lies uncomformably over Unit I.(9) Synrift units are typically slightly folded, and are uncomformably overlain by undeformed postrift sediments.(10) The Carboniferous is there dipping gently northwest while the Cretaceous lies uncomformably with a very gentle southeast dip.
